In my last online workshop, How to Collage like a Storyteller, we made time for sharing at the end. And some people asked for constructive feedback on their work-in-progress.
This turned out to be one of the most magical parts of the workshop:

This experience is the inspiration for Collage Circle: a 2-hour guided online workshop with plenty of time for making art and sharing constructive feedback.
For our first Collage Circle on Saturday 29th August, that theme will be Making myths: or how to draw inspiration from the drama, romance, and tragedy of ancient mythology and create a myth-like collage of your own.
What makes this special?
This is a rare opportunity to get live, actionable critique on your work outside of private teaching.
Being present while work is discussed constructively can really accelerate your growth as an artist, even when it’s not your work being discussed. You’ll get insight into how to think critically about composition, colour, narrative, and communicating your intent.
We’ll spend time sharing and discussing each other’s collage, with the level and type of feedback dictated by the artist. Whether you want to hear what people like about it, or want help refining an awkward composition, we’ll do just that.
Only if you want to! Sharing is entirely consent-based: as the artist, you get to decide how you want me (and the group) to engage with your work. For example, if you ask for constructive feedback (e.g. suggestions on composition) you’ll get it.
But unless you invite that feedback, the only commentary you’ll get will be enthusiastic support and encouragement. This is a safe, supportive space and you can engage in a way that feels good for you.
Inspired by ancient mythology
In this session, you’ll learn what makes a myth feel like a myth, and how to bring those dramatic, emotive qualities to your own work. What makes the story of a collage feel universal and timeless?
This is a really fun way to play with the boldest, most emotive blocks of story. Go big and dramatic. Unforgiving landscapes. Timeless architecture. Heroic figures. If you haven’t intentionally played with theme in your work before, this is an amazing opportunity to start.
